Wolfgang Puck Cafe

From the name, you know it's an expensive restaurant but I was so excited to eat good food at Downtown Disney (famous for its pleasure island-pubs), I walked into this restaurant right away and Justin was like "You pay ah!" Ok lah, I paid lah...

We sat down at the sushi bar and ordered 1 california roll, which of course was the cheapest of all. I thought it's taste okay cos the rice is not very soft and also I thought I make better sushi. Haha! Then we ordered 1 calamari and 1 BBQ Chicken Pizza. These are AWESOME! The calamari is fried right and came with their specialty sauce - some curry greenish stuff. The sauce was marvelous and we thought it's unique compared to ranch or honey mustard and we finished the whole plate. The pizza was thin crust which we like and the cheese was hot and chewy and pulley(when you eat, it pulls you know...) . I thought it was made perfect unlike those big chunky thick crust pizza w/o much ingredients on it.

So the total came out to $41.38 + tax. Well, I thought it's reasonable for a good and famous restaurant. Well, it's good to dulge once in a while, hehehe! And then, before we left, the chinese chef at the Sushi table said "Kamsahamida" to me..ermm..I just smiled back lor..dunno how many times that we both had been mistaken to be Koreans.

2. Taste of Hong Kong

We had Seafood crispy HK style noodles and Beef w/ black bean sauce flat noodles(hor fun) the first time we went there. I was thrilled to have authentic chinese food. And the most satisfying is the pot of hot Chrysanthemum Tea. Wow!

We had dim sum the second time we went. The shrimp cheong fun, fried radish cake, chicken feet (according to Justin cos i don't eat), har gao, and steamed ribs are delicious. The siew mai wasn't soft enough and the black egg porridge (Suddenly cannot remember the egg's name) and lian yeung Bao (Lotus buns) are not bad. We'll try char siew bao and egg tarts next time. Hehe! Oh! And we had the pot of hot Chrysanthemum Tea again.... Mmmm..Satisfying!!

We're pretty broke now so we've been eating home cooked food or whatever junk you can find in our home. After saving up some money, I'm treating Justin to delicious Hawaiian food on his birthday on Oct 10!! There're so many restaurants here and we don't know what to choose. I still want to go to the Japanese Teppanyaki and try some other Chinese restaurants and therefore, I need to work harder.
Live Life to the Fullest!

Roadtrip to Florida part II

Day 4 (8/20/2007 Monday):

From Chattanooga, we set off to our final destination - Kissimmee, Florida where our motel is located! It's about 10 mins drive south of Orlando. We drove for about 2 hours and arrived in Atlanta, Georgia for lunch. There were many restaurants outside the campus and we went to this korean/jap restaurant. I had Pork katsu don and Justin had this spicy seafood noodles soup. The korean boss thought we were korean and spoke to us in korean until we said we weren't. haha! We actually enjoyed our trip at Atlanta downtown cos it's huge and pretty. CNN is there and it's the state of Coca Cola! Also, lots of African American! This is the best city we've seen throughout our drive! How come there are no restaurants like that right outside BYU huh? Sian ah! Then we drove all the way to Kissimmee, Florida and when we arrived there at night, I was like: "This is my new home now and I love it!" Because there are so many lights and restaurants! It's located at Tampa, Florida, which is about 1 1/2 hours of drive from Central Orlando. Tampa is at the western part of florida. It was a hot day man! I was glad that it didn't rain. This place is full of big and fun rides. The 1st roller coaster already made us dizzy as it kept spinning round and round. The best ride would definitely be "Sheikra" which is the newest ride i think. It stops at a 40 ft high and suddenly goes all the way down 90 degree vertically! It was awesome man! Justin described it as "tiao lou" (jumping off the building), hahaha! I think i'm braver than him cos he admitted that he closed his eyes while I opened mine! (Check the pic on the right!)

Also, I took this overturn pirate ship alone (which I din know that it would overturn lor until i was on it). Justin din want to take cos he doesn't like pirateship and he was laughing at me downstairs while I was hanged up there! The necklace i was wearing almost dropped and I had to hang on to it. I'm really not afraid to take roller coasters or whatever scary rides by myself because I'm a big fan of theme parks and I totally love taking them. If Justin doesn't dare to take, I'll still go ahead and take one lah.. Joyce rules! haha! Anyway, we'll be reporting to Disney the next day so here ends our roadtrip but we'll continue to have fun man!

Live Life to the Fullest!

Roadtrip to Florida part I (I can't finish cos i'm going to disney theme park now, hahaha!)

Day 1 (8/17/2007 Friday):

We wanted to leave Provo at 8am, but we left at 9am instead because we were out late at Denny's the night before with the rest of the Singaporeans - so called our last gathering, but I didn't really feel so. Anyway, we drove for about 8 hours and arrived in Denver, CO. We were happy to see trees, which is hard to find in a desert like Utah. Surprisingly, it was raining in Denver and we had to bring our umbrella out, but we saw a very prominent rainbow. It's so beautiful! See pic below! I could say I like Denver so much more than SLC because it's green, beautiful, has nice buildings and more bigger shopping areas and restaurants. We visited the 16th street mall and I thought it was a nice place. We had dinner at Chili's and I would rate it 5.5 out of 10. We drove through the state Kansas, which is between Colorado and Missouri. Rachel Tan called me while I was driving and I told her this place is super boring. There's only fields and fields. Ash told me it's only fields and tornados, haha! I don't understand how can people live in this kind of place! It was a nice drive though because the road was not mountainous. We arrived Kansas City, MO in the evening, central time and we drove through downtown. We visited the Crown Center and the Union Station. It's the city for hallmark too! We were so surprised to see so many ah pek and ah ma at the Crown Center and the food are so cheap. I guess it's a city for them lah, haha! I didn't want to eat there cos it's their territory even though the food's cheap. And the shops all closed early too! In the end, we bought our dinner at Wendy's and went back to the motel to eat, haha!

Day 3 (8/19/2007 Sunday):

We left at 7:30am again to our 3rd destination this time - Chattanooga, Tennesse. We knew it would be a long drive this day - about 10 hours plus. Along the way, we stopped at St. Louis, MO downtown for lunch at TGIF. I had the strawberry chicken salad and it was awesome! TFIG is so much better than Chili's. Then we continued our drive and arrived in Nashville, TN at about 5:30pm to look around. We were too full to have dinner that early and everything was closed in the downtown and so we continued our drive all the way to Chattanooga which is at the very south of Tennesse. There were so many motels there and different car plates. I guess it's a place for people to stopover and rest and then continue our travel the next day. Guess what we had for dinner since we arrived like 10 something there (because we din realize that it changed into eastern time at Chattanooga)? We bought our dinner at the nearby restaurant and it's Wendy's again! For goodness sake! I bought the same JR. Bacon Cheese burger and I promise myself not to eat Wendy's for the next few months. Pic L: St. Louis, MO. Because we're moving to Orlando, FL in 24 days! We're both doing an internship with Walt Disney World! Justin is working for merchandizing dept and I'm working for entertainment productions. We hope we could have a blast and wonderful experience!

Anyway, we need so much money to move there. Imagine the cost of renting a big truck with the car mover, the gas, the motels we are staying, and the food we need, the total price cost a lot!! We're taking 4 days to arrive there. We'll stop by Denver CO, Kansas City MO, Chattanooga, TN, and lastly, Kissimmee, FL to stayover. We'll also drive by places like St. Louis MO, Nashville TN, and Atlanta GA. Well, we'll just take this as a road trip.

Apparently, we're working 2 jobs to save up for this trip. That explains why we're both tired and stressful. Well, we'll just xin ku a bit for the 1st year and then when we move back to Singapore next summer, we should have a more peaceful life since we already have a condo back home!!!
Hehe!

I'll update pics and our lives when we move there. Hopefully I don't slack lah.. haha!

Love,
Joycey
Live Life to the Fullest!

Finally Graduated after 4 years in U.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5073089079338509346" style="FLOAT: left;

Don't be surprised that a cartoon could contain such meaning message. I expected this movie to be funny and lame, but it's isn't about how funny it is because it's actually not. It's about how we should not keep having nostalgic memories and looking for the past, blame our past and find faults in what we have done, but we should believe in ourselves, in our talents and abilities, never give up and just keep moving forward.

I didn't laugh my whole heart out, but I was still engrossed to the storyline till the end. At the very end of the movie, a message appeared. It says something like we all have doubts and uncertainty about our future, but we should not give up and just keep moving forward.......Walt Disney Company. Oh my gosh, at that moment, I cried under the 3D glasses. Heavenly Father has answered my prayer and doubts through a movie. I've been whining a lot about why our future is so blur, but the bold words have given me strength and power not to give up in hoping. We might have trials in our lives, but we should just keep moving on and stop blaming about what had happened. Who knows what's going to happen to us next time right? Just like the kid in the movie, he never knew he would have such bright future, but he learns to stop blaming about his fate and move on. I want to learn from him.

Yeah, who knows what will happen when we keep moving forward to work with Walt Disney World in August. Ironically, we already saw the message is brought to us by Walt Disney Company. Haha! So I believe we should keep moving forward in Walt Disney Company..haha!

Later, we watched TMNT(Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), our childhood favorites. I really love this movie. The story is pretty dramatic and like an typical asian action movie. Then i found out one of the producers is a Chinese. In fact, there were many Chinese people involved with this movie. We heard Zhang Ziyi's dub in one of the characters. If you have time, catch this movie too but Meet the Robinsons is my #1 choice at the moment! It has helped to gain my testimonies...Catch it!!!

Live Life to the Fullest!

Can you imagine that Singapore is turning into a big tourist attraction?

Yeah, it's true!!! I just found out yesterday online!!!

In 2010, we'll have UNIVERSAL STUDIOS SINGAPORE on the sentosa island along with 6 hotels, some museums, water parks, and festive walks (a street of entertainment).

Genting casino won the bid because they imposed a family oriented theme. They are going to bring in ex-Cirque du Soleil performers to create a new show called La Vie, not too sure about the name, but this is awesome!

Anyway, check out the website which has cool model pictures: http://www.screamscape.com/html/universal_studios_singapore.htm
Also, check out this website for more information about the rides on the theme park: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Studios_Singapore
It's their fifth theme park and i'm so glad that they are opening in our homeland!!!

I'm super more excited because with my internship experience in disney world in florida, it will help me to get a job in Universal studio Singapore since they are both corporate theme parks and might do the same kind of entertainment productions. I also heard rumors of disney talking w/ the govt about opening a disneyland in Marina. I can totally see why God wants me and justin to go disney now.....how exciting.

Most likely, we are leaving on 8/18 to florida. Anyone interested to come visit us, email or call!! I could get free pass into the disney parks! heheee...
Live Life to the Fullest!

Remember our Chinese wannabe, Benji?

Hello, if you still remember Benji (the Chinese wannabe who performed in the Asian Festival last time), he's pretty popular in Shanghai now. If you want some, call me, text me, email me, blog me, msn me (whatever communication you can get me) and I can probably meet u in school and pass it to you. However, it might melt by that time so it would better if you come to my house and eat it cold and fresh. Just let me know if you are craving for one and we can probably bring you to my house or meet you somewhere. I know Ashley needs me to talk to her in Mandarin for her class (er..but then, she doesn't like durian..so not singaporean, haha!)

I really don't mind picking you up....I love taking care of my beloved Singaporeans friends...hehe! He bought 2 crabs for $15 (on sale) at Ranch 99 in Las Vegas. Yes, they were fresh live crabs, but RIP in the car on the way back to Provo.

We couldn't finish everything and there were still 4 legs in our fridge...hmm..anyone tempted already? Hahahaha! I made strawberry cake with vanilla bean ice-cream in the middle last night. The cake is all pink and of course you can't compare it with Baskin n Robbins ice-cream cake, but at least I tried...hehe....not too bad and there is still 3/4 piece in my freezer....hehe..

I think it's a great V-day celebration for our first time after our marriage. Save $, save time, and good food!!!

By the way, I woke up this morning and saw a pretty precious moment valentine card sitting on my kitchen top and i almost cried by Justin's words. Girls look sexy in them, but not the men, for goodness sake~I ever seen skinny guys wearing sleeveless and they look more feminine than females. I assume they are ah gua lah..

It's true many guys do have the figure to wear it, but I still find it disgusting. The sleeveless shirts they wear not only sleeveless, but they are tight! I don't mind if actors or singers like Rain wearing such clothing, but normal guys on the street, YIKES! I know it's a dancing class and we can wear sleeveless sports wear, but there are like 6 guys in my jazz class and none of them wear sleeveless shirt to dance, but why this particular guy is different? Of course it is his free agency, but I just can't stand seeing him whole figure, his butt, his hao lian face and the look when he hao lian all the way as he dances.

Luckily, my class is pretty huge and I don't always focus on him. To be honest, my teacher is dang hard. We have to remember this jazz dance routine for our mid-term and I had never learned all these lyrical techiniques before despite I have the graceful "sei" from my Chinese Dance skills. We always don't have time to finish what we learned in one class period basically because she always starts late and her warm-up is freaking long. I took this class cos my friend told me it's easy (well, for her teacher), but not for mine....sigh............
Live Life to the Fullest!

I went crazy last night...

Last night, I was suffering from a psychological nervous system breakdown or whatever you call it..I was telling justin that I'm going crazy and I might suffer from depression..

Well..you see...when we got home last night, I started throwing things around in the house and Justin was really shocked...I started screaming and stuff...Then I took a super long shower and I came out..telling Justin I wanted to sleep.

Then we said a prayer and I started crying at the end of the prayer. Justin was really really shocked to see me like that. I was crying because I felt Christ and Heavenly Father's Love for me in my heart.

I felt so empty for the past few days...like I'm so lonely, like nobody loves me...I felt like everyone doesn't care for me...nobody cares for me.....................nobody........but at the end of the prayer, I felt that I'm still being loved by our Heavenly Father. No matter what I do, He'll always loves me....

So Justin started to console me and I asked him lots of weird questions like "Is it true that everyone hates me?" and he was like "NO!!!" I even asked him "Does he loves me?" I was really going crazy with all these thoughts in my mind. Justin said my brain is controlling me and he thinks I'm really going crazy. I started to lie down on the floor, looking like someone from woodbridge hospital. He lied down beside me too, telling me that everybody loves me and my family still loves me and Keshia loves me because she's so fierce last night, telling him to pick me up (haha!) etc etc... I felt so much comforted after hearing all these. I'm a woman after all, I need encouragement and praises at all time to give me more confidence with myself. I was throwing things around because I wanted his attention. Seriously, my mentality wasn't in the right place last night..

After a long good sleep, I'm feeling much better now. I guess it might be because I haven't had any good sleep for the past few nights and my brain is suffering from some breakdown or what. Well, I'm not siao lah...but it will just happen sometimes and I always need Justin to comfort me and to cool me down. I think this is normal in human beings.

I'm excited that Justin, me and Keshia are watching Dance Evolution at the SCERA theatre in OREM tomorrow. It's a combination of ballroom, jazz, and hiphop. I'm so looking forward to it. I just love DANCE! I'm also happy that I could use this to write my jazz dance critic paper, yeah! I hope this brand new week will be a happier week for me. Last week was too sad for me to remember..........so if you see me in school or wherever next time, hug me and tell me you love me, that would really help! I'm serious! Isn't this what our VT message for this month? Be the instruments in God's Hands! We would never knew that simple things we've done would help others. My VT came by just now and told me that she's always very happy to see me because I'm always looking so happy. I never knew that my smile and happiness would make her feel better. I'm so glad that I've done that. Actually, I don't know why people always tell me that I always look happy. Really? But I'm not happy all the time........?

However, I'm happy that I could write all my feelings down in my blog....Thanks for "listening" to me, my dear blog... I'm always the one who chereographed the dance for every year's Asian Festival performance for the Singaporeans, but I couldn't do it this year due to my conflict with my Theatre performance so last minute, a few Singaporeans prepared something lah. I was okay that I'm not involved with this year's performance, I felt I'm tired too so I'm glad they could perform something, but the big deal is I was very upset that I couldn't sit down in the audience and watch them esp. my husband is involved in it. You get what I mean? My LAO GONG is in the show and I want to watch HIM!!!!

Then this "guy" just come and tell me just to let the younger generation do it and he sounded like he's asking me to let go like that..and there are other talented people besides me...He sounded like I should retire... But I love performing..I'm always a performer, I just love dancing on the stage. I don't mind dancing again every year and I didn't understand why he said that to me, so MEAN!!!! Like really asking me to retire and give up...and they could also do a good job without my help, you know? Maybe you will say i'm sensitive, but you didn't see how and the way he said it...like bo chup like that..i just stood there looking so stupid..he was like trying to find excuses..and then came up with "Er...YOU'RE MARRIED, BUT I'M NOT!!!" Then he ran away.... I tell you ah...I always see him with different girls all the time, so flirty...buey tahan!!!

So I'm really old generation because I'M MARRIED????????????????? Hey, my heart is still young lor... Both Justin and I are still fun people lor...simi old generation? Freaking idiot leh... He talked without using his brain...Oh bi kuait to him who sprained his neck when dancing!!!! Serve him right!!! Who asked him to say me until like that! I'm so glad that Su chose Rendy over him. Rendy is like 10 times better!

Anyway, I'm feeling better lah..just treated him as a kid who's taking nonsense....i'm not old generation, I'm just more mature than him!!!!!
Live Life to the Fullest!

Mysterious Person

So who is this freaking idiot...go figure...but it should be easy to figure.....

High Five Keshia!!! Horrible....................

Friday had always been my most favorite day of the week, but apparently, after a terrible experience I had yesterday (Friday obviously), I'm not keen towards Friday anymore. Instead, I like Mondays now....at least I have no theatre stuff on Monday nights due to FHE.

I'm going to number my horrible schedule, events, and experiences, which makes it easier to read:

1. I had to work at Freschetta at 9am on Friday morning from now onwards. I added this shift to increase my income (Justin and my income). It was hard for me to wake up yesterday morning because I only finished my paper at 3am. I was falling asleep everytime I tried to type a new sentence and I ended up finishing it at 3am. I wasn't able to start working on my paper until midnight because I only got home by 11 something due to OKLAHOMA! musical. Then, I saw the new sheet of crew supervisors list on the Teriyaki Stix wall and I saw Justin Chia being the new CS for my Wed shift (to replace Keshia who dropped her shift). Okay, to be honest, I'm very unhappy because Justin has never worked at TS before and how come he jumped up to CS immediately. I know he's my husband, but it just doesn't make sense. If he's being chosen to be the CS at Scoreboard, I'll be so happy for him, but not at TS! So in the end, I have to teach him how to make the food, but then I'm not even CS myself, how am I suppose to teach him CS skills. Anyway, I know our asst. mgr favors him, but not this way....it makes me feel that I'm a terrible worker.

2. As it was my first time working my shift in Freschetta, I forgot to cut the pizzas and I just hurriedly placed them in the boxes and into the warmer. When I realized my mistake, I took all of them out and cut them one by one. I finished by 11:50am and rushed to my class at noon.

3. Luckily, when I arrived in class, my teachers were talking so I had time to cool myself down (after running up to the 5th floor in HFAC). I was panting and sweating. Working at Pizza place is pretty hot...Then I quickly read my paper that I finished at 3am to see if I'm writing any sense. Of course, I didn't. I was hoping that my prof. wouldn't call my name to answer the 1st 2 questions so I tried to put my head down and rewrite some of my non-sensible sentences (or sleepy thoughts) in pencil. As a result, my whole paper was full of pencil writing and I even wrote a special note to my TA about what happened last night. I was glad that I wasn't being called by my prof. for the 1st 2 questions (she always loves to call me whenever I'm quiet in class). However, due to my intelligent brain, I volunteered to answer question 3 (to prevent her from aiming me again) and she was like "GREAT POINT" and I realized after all, all the points and ideas shared by my fellow classmates were just crap and nonsense and all the time, my prof. just replied them "Cool/Interesting point" whereas she always says "GREAT POINT" to me, hahahaha! Ang moh love to talk cock lah..

4. By the end of the class, I went to work at Teriyaki Stix. Usually, Fridays are very slow in line and I was pretty bored the whole time. Luckily Pasi was there to play music for us, to keep me awake at least (I called her Pasi, DJ in the house cos she always brings her boombox and collection of cds to work). Seriously, I was going to fall asleep any minute.

5. Yeah, Shannon came early to work and I could leave Teriyaki Stix. I tried to nap in the Cougareat for 10 minutes, but the noise wouldn't allow me to rest more so I decided to buy a burger. I saw Rachel and Angela and they started telling my Bobby Yen's backout from the Asian Fest performance and how Nat wasn't very concerned about it...which i felt so bad for them. Then, we went to the Singapore booth to help out. Obviously, I didn't have the mood to help because first, I was very very tired and second, everybody kept asking me where's Justin, and finally, I needed to keep track of my time to go for my Oklahoma's thing again. The whole time, I was trying hard to talk to the Singaporeans, to make myself feel better, but I just felt empty inside me. Nobody noticed that I was very upset that I couldn't be there to watch my husband to perform.

6. When I'm up there in the light booth at the theatre, I felt so depressed that I started talking to my other spot light friend over the other side through headsets. She knew how i felt and tried to encourage me. We then started chit chatting over the phone and I found out that she loves to play mahjong...wah...next time I'll invite her to my house to play...She's an American caucasian btw...haha..interesting huh? She calls the "tong" cookies..haha!

7. At the end of the show, we both went to WILK to check out the dance while waiting for Justin to come pick me up. He was not at the dance, but at his friend's house. He told me everybody has left because they were playing country music, but when i got there, it was hiphop and then one of the Singaporeans came out. I talked to this person and asked why are they still here because justin told me they had left cos of country music. This person replied: "Nah...we are dancing..it's top 40s! We'll only leave after the dance. Oh, btw, Justin did a very good job." And then I started seeing everybody telling me how good and funny Justin was. Okay, here's the point, it didn't make me feel any better. I mean I'm proud of him, but the truth is I WASN'T THERE TO WATCH HIM AND I REALLY HOPE I COULD AND I WAS FEELING SO UPSET ABOUT IT ALREADY.....!!!"

8. SO HERE'S THE WORST PART of my Friday: After this person telling me that Justin was great and I felt so sad about it that I told this person honestly that I felt really bad and sad that I couldn't be there. Guess what this person replied?
Singaporean: "Oh, don't worry lah, just let the younger generation do it lor, anyway, we have talented people also what like Jaylin who can dance. " !!!!!!!! I was so shocked to hear this...right in my face!!!
I argued back: "Well, so you are trying to say I'm the old generation lah? What's the difference between you and me? We are both the same age! "
Singaporean (paiseh, with the head looking down): "Er...aiyah..but you are married, and I'M NOT!" (Then this person left.....)

URGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.........I stood there, in shock...almost burst into tears... That's not what I meant...I was trying to say I'm very very sad that I couldn't be there to watch and support them and esp. my husband.....................................!!!!

I went to the other side at Jamba Juice with my ang moh friend and I started crying................she began to encourage me, hug me and stuff.....then finally Justin came to pick us.

After dropping my friend off, I told Justin everything while bursting in tears... He told me that this person is always very insensitive in his language..i knew that..but how could he say this kind of thing to me? Even though I'm graduating, I could still be part of the performance right? I always love to coordinate and chereograph dance, if you don't want me, tell me straight in the face, freaking idiot!!!!!!!!!!!

That was why we were both late at IHOP..................Even till now, I still feel upset with his words...I felt so left out now.............from the Singaporeans.............. Is there something wrong with me or what??? :(
Live Life to the Fullest!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://joyceylim.blogspot.com/2007/01/freaky-friday-horrible.html' title='Freaky Friday!!! for the past few days! Yeah, first week of school wasn't fun because there were many things that I needed to settle first esp. it's my last semester. Graduating is exciting, but it's scary too because there are many things that justin and i needed to figure and plan for our future. It is a great transition of a typical student life to a career life with more worries. Thus, this semester is crucial even though we are not taking many credits.

I finally settled my credits and classes for this semester and here it goes:

1. DANCE 131 (0.5) - Beginning Jazz Dance (lyrical, hiphop, fast, and character) - don't really know what they are, but gotta have some fun!

2. EXSC 125 (0.5) - Flexibility - So many people wanted to add this class. We start class at 12:05pm and stretch for like 25 mins and take a power nap for like 10 mins and the class ends at 12:40pm. That's it!!! No wonder so many people want to take this class. But i didn't enjoy the power nap though because we just lie flat on the wooden floor with our body face up and the lights were on (too bright). I couldn't sleep at all, but I felt nauseaus the whole time!

3. TMA 360 (1.0) - Theatre Production 3 - okay, free labor (all theatre students know about that) and this is part 3 already. I'm the spot light operator for the upcoming musical OKLAHOMA! so imagine i'm going to watch this show for the next three weeks. I received 2 complimentary tickets and bougt 1 $2 ticket for the matinee performance on 2/3 Sat. Two are saved for Justin and Keshia, so who wants the last ticket?

4. TMA 396 (3.0) - Dramatic Literature 2 - So this is the 2nd part of my literature class I took last semester, but this class is more concentrate on social theory while the last class was more on literary theory. Lot's of dificult theories, readings and homework and for this semester, my prof made the reading logs harder to work on, but she told me she's going to help me. Although they are hard to understand sometimes, I really enjoy this class because it's very critical. Every class time is always dedicated to discussions and debating and how theories could be applied to theatre performances. Very interesting and I enjoyed it a lot!

5. TMA 515R (5.0) - Special Projects 3 - Wooo..sounds like a huge and chim project huh? What is special means here? Wanna guess? It's a 500 level class, which seems like a graduate student's class right? I was just given this 5 credits from my stage management supervisor because I don't want to attend those regular stage management classes. This special project allows me to work on my own and all I need to do is to write daily journals. It's a very flexible, independent, and self-discipling project! Wow, still kinda guessing what I really do? Okay, I just got handled the job of stage manager (again) for the spring family musical You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown! It's going to start on May 30th to June 16th so that means I'll still be here in Provo until then even after I graduate. It's going to be a cute and fun musical and I'm excited about it! I'm grateful that I'm given this great opportunity to work on this Broadway musical to gain more exposure, experience and training. It's definitely going to be a "fulfilling" training because i've been warned that the director is kinda "different" from the other nice and relax directors here at BYU. So people, better support me this time esp. you never supported me in The Little Foxes! You know who I am talking about (Rae and Ash)!!!! :p

Therefore, I'll probably move to other place (still uncertain but somewhere in California maybe) after the show ends. Justin might move a little earlier than me to settle the new place first so when I move over, it's much easier for me.

I'll let you know if we have more upcoming plans!!! We really hope that Heavenly Father will bless us with a miracle!!!

Love,
Joycey

Live Life to the Fullest!

Haunted Pictures I

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; I slipped out another piece of paper in front of his eyes and he looked at me and asked: "Wah, still have meh? I thought don't have liao.." Curious huh? Then the paper says: "How can a birthday boy celebrates his birthday without a birthday present? Just the card wasn't enough!" More curious huh? Then I brought out a box for him. Anticipating, he opened it quickly and first thing he saw was a headset and so he thought I bought a headset for him and then when he removed the headset, he saw a gift that he would never thought that he would get it esp. from me. Guesss what?

IPOD NANO! A 4 GB Black one...I've tested him before and he told me black is nice and when he saw the present, he was like "No wonder you asked me the other day about what color I like for ipod!" He was sooooooo happy like a 5 year old kid receiving a present from his mum. He never ever thought he would have a chance to own an ipod because he doesn't have $ to buy. I used my accumulated pay to buy for him one ah. Of course I'm smart, I bought from ebay, haha! But since after that spent, my financial status starts to drop and never gained again. I've been spending too much $, not because on materialistic stuff, but because of my stupid medical bills (in case you don't know, I went to emergency dept early this semester) and rent. Hai..... $ is really important leh....if I have lots of $, the first thing I want to do is to travel around: Rome, Paris, Sweden, Switzerland, London, Barcelona, Madrid, Egypt, Disney World again, Taiwan again, Japan, Thailand again, HK again, Australia again, South Afica, and fly to South Korea again to see Kim Jung Hoon's concert this time! Wow, Angie has 11 siblings and the family is huge especially they brought their spouses and friends too. Her grandmother was so nice to us, she already prepared all the seating arrangements for us, yes, including me and Justin. The decorations on the table seemed like Christmas Day celebration already, red and green and the food..oh my gosh..the food was DELICIOUS! I loved the turkey, the mashed sweet potaoes with brown sugar and walnuts on top (I think it's the best, I couldn't stop eating that), the mashed potatoes, the green beans w/ peanuts on top and another kind of beans casserole, the coconut biscuit, the ham wrapped stuffing, the beautiful salad, the rolls, the interesting and unique jello and the 4 different kinds of pies they had (pumpkin, apple, rasberry cheesecake, and blueberries). I'm telling ya, I ate so much that that was the only meal I had yesterday! Even till now, my tummy is still bloated. I know I've gained lots of holiday weights not only of this meal, but also adding the big oreo cheesecake malt I had the night before and the big chunky ice-cream waffle cone I had 2 nights before. Wah lao...I looked so buff up right now and I don't know how to lose weight..haha! I better start heading for the gym next Monday onwards. I'm so serious...I'm chubby now...yikes!!! Furthermore, I'm going to eat at the Little World (best chinese restaurant in Utah) tomorrow after picking up Keshia at the airport. Hai...I'm so sinned...terribly sinned... Not going to slim down for the rest of this year because we are going to San Francisco for another food hunt (good Asian food) besides visiting my brother and his wife. Why do I love eating so much huh? I just cannot control...hehe..

This morning I woke up at 6:20am to get ready for a post thanksgiving sale! Justin already woke up at 3:30am to Best Buy to get one Nikon camera ($160 only), one 8" portable DVD player ($68) and one set of 100 blank DVDS (only $5). He told me that the line was already very long when he arrived at 4am. Could you imagine that? The shop only opened at 5am leh. The 1st person started lining up the night before at 10pm just to be the first 10 people to get the Sony Vio laptops for $399. Wow, dang cheap man! Eric and Sharn went to Circuit City and lined at the cashier from 5:30am till 9:30am to get their things paid! Siao ah! Anyway, Justin came back to pick me up at 7am to Walmart to get my $4+ toaster and I bought myself a monopoly boardgame too so you can come to my house to play if u want, haha! We also went to Old Navy for me to get sleeping pants for Justin and my brother for Christmas presents. They were just $10! I never knew Americans could be as kiasu as Singaporeans man.. It reminded me of the hello kitty fever at the macdonalds many years ago...haha..I was one of those crazy people..haha!

Anyway, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holidays!
Live Life to the Fullest!

End of Late Nights

Yeah....my show finally ended on last Saturday! It had been a great and wonderful experience for me. I really learned a lot working as a stage manager who facilitates the director, takes care of all the miscelleaneous and coordinates with other design departments. The show went really well and we participated in the ACTF competition and we might get into the regionals. If we do, we will get to perform in Cedar City next February. If we get into more rounds, we will go national in Washington DC. Well, it would be fun for me if I choose to go. Now, I finally have my evenings free and able to go home and accompany my husband. So people, if you wanna ask me out, I'm FREE now! Yahoooo.....I always tell people that I'll invite them to my house on Sunday for dinner after my show ends..well I'll do it one day and also...I'll bring whoever wants to go makan at the chinese restaurant on Sat for lunch (hmmm...soybean milk with fried fritters..yummy!)

Joyce
Live Life to the Fullest!

Maybe there's no difference between man and woman?

There was a slight variation to the joke I previously just put up. If you haven't read that one, read it first before you read this one! My brother just emailed me the actual one. Here it is:

One day while Heidi was taking a shower, Faith suddenly asked her in Mandarin, "mommy, do you have bird bird?" Heidi laughed. Then she asked Faith, "Does Tong tong have bird bird?". Faith replied, "No". She continued, "Didi (her brother) has bird bird". Heidi next asked, "Does papa have bird bird?" Faith said, "Papa don't have bird bird." (whahahaha! My poor brother is not a man?!) Then Heidi asked her, "Does Nainai (grandma) have bird bird?" Faith replied, "Nainai don't have bird bird". Lastly, she asked, "Mommy, does Yeye (grandpa) have bird bird?" Heidi said, "Why don't you ask Yeye?"

Hahahaha.......

If she really asks my father, I think he will pengzzz.....hahahha!

Joyce
Live Life to the Fullest!

Difference between Male and Female....

I just received this joke from my brother, but it's a real story that happened between my sis in law, Heidi and my niece, Faith. I laughed so hard, and you really have to read it despite it being a little R rated. But then, it's important for a 3 year old girl to learn right? Here it goes:

One day while Heidi was taking a shower, Faith suddenly asked her in mandarin, "Mommy, you don't have bird bird right?" Heidi laughed. Then Faith said, "Tong Tong (her chinese name) also no bird bird." Next is even hilarious. "Papa and Didi (her younger brother) have bird bird." Then Heidi asked her, "Does Nainai (Grandma) have bird bird?" Faith replied, "Nainai don't have bird bird." Lastly, she asked, "Mommy, does Yeye (Grandpa) have bird bird?"

Heidi couldn't control herself anymore.......

Hahahahahahahahahahaha.........don't you agree that little children are so cute in their curiosity? My hubby, me, 3 of my Beijing friends, Angela, her friend Derrick, along with Rendy and Su travelled about 15 minutes to this Haunted Forest at American Fork, Utah. The weather was pretty nice that night, not too cold and the waiting in the line was pretty reasonable. I was very lucky too. When I was lining up for the tickets, this kid came up to me and sold me his extra ticket for $10 only. If I buy from the ticket office, it would cost $3 more. Anyway, this kid looked very pitiful and he told me about their sad story of getting their extra ticket. Poor boy, but I got a good deal man! Sean who supposed to meet us there, went in first with his friends...aiyer...he bo sim one lah..only care about his date more than us..

We were all staying close together as we walked in. Justin and I were at the front initially and we were scared to death. Things just pop out suddenly and Angela who screamed behind my ears, scared me too! haha! Rendy also trying to touch us and scare us as well as Justin. Then, we started to get separated and people behind us overtook us. They probably thought we were too slow. Justin and I were then walking behind these impatient group of Mexicans along with our Beijing friends while Rendy, Su, Angela, and Derrick went the other way. We all got split into 2 groups. Anyway, it's not as fun to walk behind people's back as to walk in front because when you are in front, you experience all the shocks, but when you walk behind, you see and hear people screaming and this already created a defensed in your heart. There were a few times I was scared off by things I couldn't see when we walked through tunnels, dark rooms, super tight closet, dungeons, , ghost coming out of water when we cross the bridge, cells, this disco light room that made my head dizzy and so on. There was this time where justin and I got slowed down because it was so dark and we couldn't see anything. Then suddenly, this freaking car "Behhhhh" so loud and nearly caused me deaf. I screamed so loud not because of ghost or what, but because of a sudden super loud horn from a car. Then immediately, another big flow of air that blow out at me. Basket! We all also got chased by men with saws and fire.. Also, sometimes, you walk past something you don't see or feel. Many times I heard snork sound at my ear. Wah lao...The most funny thing is that Justin got scared off by Freddy. This Freddy guy appeared to scare the group of people in front of us and then he went to hide again and so we thought we were saved. Then as we walked up about 10 inches more, Justin jumped and screamed suddenly. I turned and looked at my left and I saw Freddy beside him. Haha! All my friends in front turned back and laughed at Justin's reaction. He told me that this stupid Freddy suddenly put out his hand in front of his face out of nowhere. Hahahaha!

It was really fun throughout the whole journey. It was a pretty long walk and there were times that we could take a breather before we entered another frame of horror. I really wanted to visit Rocky Point in SLC too and I just found out that this year is the last time they are doing. I heard that they are pretty good, using Hollywood sets and scenes. Too bad I don't have time to go down anymore, sigh... and I'm going to miss them forever. However, my classmate today mentioned that they will do something again in spring to kinda wrap up everything, like the last time for eveyrone. Maybe I will go then provided I'm still in Utah. I totally feel that Singapore should do something such fun..It would be way awesome!

Anyway, too bad to all of you who couldn't make it there. You miss a whole lot of fun! It could be scary, but with so many friends and people, it's really funny sometimes to see them got scared and chased by the ghosts, hahaha! By the end of the journey, I was panting and sweating....
Live Life to the Fullest!

Surprise for my hubby!

I should have written this 2 weeks ago, but you know.. I'm a Production Stage Manager...life is just about theatre, production, rehearsal, and rehearsals, and more rehearsalsssssssss...........

Okay, since I couldn't celebrate my Hubby's b-day on 10/10 cos of my rehearsal, I planned this special thing for him on the night before. After our classes, I met him at WILK and we walked to the car together. I'm going to bring him for dinner, but he didn't know where. He didn't know anything I've planned. So here is goes...

1. When we got into the car, I passed him a slip of paper, which said "There are 3 surprises for you today..we're going for the 1st one now for dinner..guess where?" He guessed Sam Hawk, all the jia ba lam restaurants lah...then I told him he couldn't guess anymore, just see where we were heading. I drove him to Orem and he started to guess Carribeas at U Mall (Basket, he's right), but I couldn't tell him that he guessed right so I just replied:" Wait you see lor." Then, when I turned into the parking lot, he just laughed at my reaction just now. However, he was very happy because he always wanted to come here to eat after seeing MArcus proposing to Becca over here so I brought him here to eat. It's pretty good, just like Marcaroni's Grill (Not sure about the name). It's a Italian restaurant selling some grill seafood and meat. WE both love the bread dip with the sauce. Awesome! And we packet all the bread home, haha! Also, Justin treated me this dinner instead...haha!

2. Halfway through the dinner, I gave him his 2nd slip of paper which says "Here's your 2nd surprise, however......" He went curious. He was like "However what???" Then I gave him a birthday card, which says that he needs something special on his birthday and I'm that something special. Romantic huh? I told him that I didn't buy him any b-day present because I'm the present and that's enough for him and he agreed. I was hoping that he would not be disappointed but he seemed very happy. I ever asked him before what does he want for his b-day present and he answered that to me that I'm enough for him so I just bought this card lor. On the card, I pasted lots of heart-shaped stickers too...hehe! Then, he told me that he's looking forward to know his 3rd and last surprise.

3. We drove home and at our door, I passed him his 3rd slip of paper which says: "Open this door, and walk straight to the refrigerator." He was so excited after reading this that he shouted: "Got cake ah? I want to eat cake!" Then we went in and he opened the fridge and saw a big cake with strawberries on top, he just "WAH!!!!!" and hugged me right away. I never knew he would be so anticipated to have a cake. He thought I made it, but I told him that I ordered it at the French Bakery at Orem. Oh my gosh, please visit this shop if u have the chance. They have the best pastries man! I bought their this almond cake thing last time and I couldn't stop eating. I felt like I'm in Heaven...not exaggerating. It is sooooooo delicious! They are all made by the French people. Real French and very friendly! Jusitn and I tried eating this cake....can you imagine...we both flying up into the Heaven? It's not the typical American cake which uses icing sugar (will get dietbetes someday), but it uses Fresh Cream, just like those we eat in Singapore...OMGosh!! I couldn't bear to give any piece of this cake to anyone...haha! We still have 2 pieces left..haha..I can't bear to finish it. It's $24 for the whole rectangular cake and I thought it's pretty reasonable. We should all visit this shop one day and buy all the delicious pastries man. They could be a little expensive though...but who cares..nice food deserve it! Oh, also, in the cake, there's this layer of custard pudding...sooooo good..the cake just melts in your mouth....yummmy!!!!!

So here are the 3 surprises for my hubby.......................................................................wait a second... is this the end of the story? You think my surprises were so simple.......Well, to be continued.................. Stay Tune!!!!!! :)
Live Life to the Fullest!

The Sweetest and Cutest Girl ever!

Hahaha! Sad...but look how cute she dressed, just to meet me...sob sob...I want to cry now...I miss her so badly.. My sis-in law told me that she now still asks her "Where is Gu Gu (Aunt in Chinese)?" and she also asked her mum if she could go to my house to swim. (My married home in Pasir Ris-an exec. condo; that's why got swimming pool) Urghhhhh....what a darling...
Isn't my neice the sweetest girl ever? She's 3 now! But she can be naughty and annoying sometimes. Haha...

Well, I guess I won't get to see her until few years later, and she will probably be 5/6 years old. Will she still be as sweet as ever? Will she still remember me? or become a naughty 6 year old kid?
Live Life to the Fullest!

World of Dance!

Yes! I finally had the chance to watch this at the Dejong concert hall at BYU HFAC on last sat night! I was so excited before going to this performance because I'm always fascinated about watching dance and imagine myself dancing. I pulled Justin along and I'm glad he enjoyed it too! I was very looking forward to watch the Cougareattes because I heard of them being very good and I wanted to know what kind of dance they expertize. Well, I can say they are very talented and their black costumes made them look like a bunch of catwomen wild dancing. A mix of hiphop, jazz, ballet, modern, everything! Awesome! I wish I could be one of them, sob sob... but when we walked our the theatre and saw all the dancers standing outside, Justin said they were not pretty at all even though they can dance, haha! Also, he said all the male dancers look very nerdy! Come on lah, what can he expect? This is BYU mah..he thinks we have dancers with long hair that look like F4?

I was quite fascinated by the ballet dancers initially, but after that, it's quite boring because they looked almost the same. It's always the same kind of dance steps and the 3 same nerdy shorty boys, hahaha! They look so young, not even have college looks.

Then the ballroom dance company impressed me too. Their dance was not what I expected! I thought ballroom dance has alot of salsa and tango, but their dance was slow and lots of flying around. I mean the girls kana flew around. The whole time, justin and I were like "wow" "whoo" "ahh" because we were worried that the girls are going to fall from the flying. Through out their dance, I thought I'm watching a circus...haha, but it's very nice lah..

I wasn't very looking forward to watch the International Folk Dance, but their quick tap dance moves caught me breathtaking! I was so amazed that I loved it! I would never knew how to tap dance, it's just not my type of dance, but I really thought it was cool! I don't understand why all angmohs love tap dancing. Almost every class I attend or everywhere I go, I see my friends tap dancing....

Lastly, I wanna talk about how modern dance influence me so much that I'm so keen to learn it! I never really knew what's modern dance until I watched their performance last winter and I loved it! This time, they performed 2 same dances that I've seen last winter, but I'm never sick of them. I had never taken any dance class here at BYU yet even though I love dancing. It's because I don't know what to take. My body is harden like a stone now, unlike when I was 17! Back then, I could bend here bend there. Now my body is like a grandma! Therefore, I think I'm too old to learn ballet and modern dance. But now I don't care because I want my 17 year old body back and I know this takes lots of time and practice. So I decided to take basic modern dance next winter before I graduate and hopefully I can continue learning when I move to somewhere else. Then when my body is more flexible, I will want to learn street jazz which is the feminine of hiphop. I don't want to stop learning dancing because it's my passion forever! Anyone wants to join me taking modern dance in winter? We'll have lots of fun!!!!
Live Life to the Fullest!

Fall Semester 2006

Here are the classes I'm taking this semester:

1. TMA 150 (Public Speaking) 3 credits- Yea, you have to speak in front of everybody! And my whole class is dominated by whites and 3/4 males! I just given a speech about myself and things I'm grateful for and I thought I did pretty well... My next speech is going to be story telling..duh?!!! What story? 3 Little Pigs ah?

2. TMA 395 (Dramatic Literature 1) 3 credits - Yes..theories, literary, plays, papers, argument, analysis... you can tell it's a hard class and lots of work; sometimes I don't really understand the chim theories, but then I still enjoy this class because I learned a lot!

3. TMA 460 (Portfolio) 2 credits- Making a portfolio of all the designs, drawings, and stage management projects I've done. I got to give a final presentation to the big shots at the end of the semester and I'm so worried that my stuff is not enough...

4. TMA 461R (Stage Mgmt 2) 3 credits- I'm currently working on the BYU production "The Little Foxes" written by Lillian Hellman, which is going to be up at the Margetts Theatre, HFAC on Nov 1-18, 7:30pm

5. TMA 369R (Design and Technology Project) 3 credits - this class goes along with TMA 461R so my whole stage mgmt project is a total of 6 credits. I have to run rehearsals every Tues to Fri night and Sat morning to afternoon. It's a lot of work and responsibility, but it's challenging because I enjoy organizing and planning events. Besides this, I have to attend 3 different meetings a week. All the big shot people know me by now, haha! I'm working with a fun director and a group of awesome actors and actresses so this show is going to be cool! Come and watch!!!!

I'm taking a total of 14 credits and it's way enough for me since I'm packed for almost every night! I'm pretty stress sometimes, but you know what? Theatre production is like a train and we can't stop it and so I just have to keep moving on...it will end eventually. But for next semester, I'll take more fun classes like modern dance, bowling, flexibility, or ballroom dance!!!!
Live Life to the Fullest!

Ouch! My Butt!!!!

Okay, it really hurts okay! No kidding man!

It happened last night at the Sam Hak Korean restaurant. Marcus, Bobby Chan, Rendy, Sue, Justin and me went to the restaurant for dinner right after their soccer game. Therefore, all the boys are sticky and stinky in their sports clothes. While we were waiting for seating, Justin started to play with me. He knew that I was very afraid to touch his arms because they were super sticky and dirty, he began to come closer to me. As he walked closer to me, I would walk backwards another step.

So does anyone remember that in the middle of the restaurant, there's this big display of korean drum and plants and blocks (bricks) around. Yes, I'm sure you can imagine what happened to me!!!

Justin saw the thing behind me, but before he could stop me, it's too late! When I saw his expression, I realized that I'm going to fall and I hurrying stop, but my foot already reached the blocks and I tripped over!! I fell all over the blocks and one of them hit my right butt. Can you imagine the corner of the block hit my butt and how painful it is? It also hit my left ankle!! Now both places got bruised and the skin torn off when I first looked at them. I put zam bak on them and when I tried to touch them lightly esp. my butt, it hurts like mad! I can't sit on my right side at all. Actually, Justin was trying to save me, but that Bobby Chan ah, pushed him away. Well, Bobby didn't know that I was falling and he was playing with Justin too so I was very unlucky that I didn't get saved. And yes, it happened in a public place like restaurant and all the people who were eating halfway turned and looked at me. Can you imagine how embaress I was? And also that stupid Rendy was laughing sooooo loud at me! Basket, the whole place was staring at me! Urghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

And I'm really excited to my white water rafting trip tomorrow, but I'm so afraid that I'm unable to sit still in the raft because of my butt and I might hurt myself more again. Wah, this summer is really too painful for me to bear in terms of spirituality and physically. I have just one word to describe: SUAY!!!!
Live Life to the Fullest!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://joyceylim.blogspot.com/2006/08/ouch-my-butt.html' title='Ouch! (Canada) on last Thursday for a total of about 15 hours. We had to drive through Idaho, Oregon, Washington and then Canada. Yep, the drive was long and tiring, but it was fun! It saved us an airticket money too. We arrived there on Friday morning at about 10:30 and we stayed at Sabrina and Eric Chan house. Eric Chan is Mervin Chan's brother. We were told that we were their first guests to live in the new house they just bought early this year. It is a pretty decent house and there's this projector used to watch movie in their basement. The whole screen is so huge and it's even better than a cinema. There is also a foosball table and the guys were crazy playing it all the time. However, they were trashed many times by the family's elder daughter, Ariel who is only 13 years old. Haha! On the very same Friday, Uncle Alvin Lee (Daniel Lee's father) brought us to a chinese restaurant to eat dim sum. It's not too bad, it's just that they were out of egg tarts and char siew shou. But anyway, I bought them later at a bakery shop. Then at night, we went to a night market selling all kinds of Asian things, vcds, Dvds, and food at Richmond, which occupies by Chinese people only. They also sell roti prata!! The 2st pic u see is smelly tofu. Both Justin and I loved it!!!

On the next day, Saturday, we went to all the beaches and lakes such as Bonzan Lake and Stanley Park to view all the beautiful scenery. There were many people and the weather was very nice. We also went to see the lighthouse. For lunch, we had ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI!!! The Chan family paid for the whole meal and I accidentally heard that the total cost for 7 of us was $108!!! Oh my gosh, we felt so paiseh man! However, I enjoyed it alot, especially the sashimi dipped in soy sauce with wasabi! Hmmm...yummy yummy! We had spent lots of time traveling around by car because the traffic was pretty bad esp during weekends. We also went to Asian shopping malls and supermarket to buy Asian things and food! We drove past downtown area and we didn't stop because they were all branded shops. We didn't have money to buy lah. I was very surprised to see so many Asians on the streets and the Angmohs were like half of the total population only. I felt like I'm in Orchard road where you see different ethnicities and culture. Later at night, we went to this Hong Kong restaurant to have dinner. We had Braised Tofu with mushrooms, steamed cod fish, baked Salted Prawns, sweet and sour fish, beef claypot (in cantonese niu nam bo), pork shops, and free lotus and ribs soup and Pulam itam dessert. Oh my gosh, guess how much I ate? ALOT!!! They were so good and I couldn't bring myself to say STOP!

On Sunday, we attended the sacrament (Justin and Sean didn't bring sunday best and so they wear pretty funky attire) and we left after that. The Chan family was really nice; they knew that we only had short time in Canada and they were willing to continue bring us around. We went to a food court to have lunch. Guess what we had? I had char Kway Tiao, Justin had Hokkien Mee, and Sean had Mee Goreng and Nasi Lemak. Haha! There's this store selling Malaysian Delights and the line was one of the longest of all the stores! I also bought some panfriend red bean pancake from a China store and it's super delicious! Then later, we caught up with our last minute shopping of food that we wanted to bring back to Provo. For dinner, Bro. Eric Chan was going to be our chef! He's one of the amazing husband I have ever met; he cooks and sews!!! Cooking is his hobby and he can make almost anything! Sabrina is so lucky to marry him! We heard about his famous chili crabs and he really made it for us. He also fried the man tous for us to dip with the chili crab sauce. Besides the crabs, he also made satay and satay sauce. Yes, he made them from scratch!!! Once again, I couldn't resist the temptation, I ate so much that my tummy was like 2 months pregnant!! How could u get such good food in Provo man? Life is a paradise for me for this whole weekend and I really couldn't bare to leave.....

Finally, on Monday morning, we started off at 7 so that we would have enough time to stop by Seattle. We went to outlet to shop and also wanting to stop in the downtown to visit the Space Needle. Unluckily, something went wrong with Sean's car! His battery broke down and we drove around hoping to see a body shop. Finally we found one and we bought a new battery and replaced the old one by ourselves (to save the workmanship cost). It took us about 25 minutes to fix it and we began traveling to downtown again. We finally found Space Needle and went up to see the whole scenery of Seattle. It's a mix between San Francisco and NY! It's pretty dirty though, haha! Later, we drove to the famous Fish market where you can buy clothes, flowers, food, seafood, fruits, and so on. I miss Fish and chip so badly and I got to eat it! Yeah!!! Then, it's time to travel home again. However, both Justin and I were in urgent to pee and we walked around looking for restrooms. Okay, this thing was pretty frustrating. All the restrooms were locked esp. in the restaurants and cafes. You need to buy their food before you can go in. We went to Macdonalds and Justin had to buy a milkshare in order for us to use their bathrooms. There was also a camera showing people going to the bathrooms and a security guard in the Macdonalds!! Can u imagine that? A Security in Macdonalds! Justin showed him his milkshake and asked if both of us can use the bathroom! Of course he said okay and we finally released our burden. This is ridiculous man! Anyway, we were so late and only started moving off at 4pm. We drove and drove and drove through midnight and we were all so tired. We only arrived in Provo at 6:30am and we all had to work a few hours later. True enough, I was late for work because I overslept and also I couldnt find a freaking parking space in school due to education week. I drove around and in the end, I parked at the south campus, along the road, close to Keshia's home... And then, I was overwhelmed by the super crowd at the courgareat.

Overall, I really like Canada because it is beautiful and the people are friendly. I don't even feel that I'm a minority over there. There are so many Chinese and Koreans. The Ang mohs are very nice and friendly to us too maybe because they already got used to the diverse culture in their country. I really don't mind living there. Actually, I just want to live in a big city, not places like Provo or Salt Lake City. It's too boring for me!

Joyce Chia
Live Life to the Fullest!

The Lake House

Gosh, what a beautiful film!!!!

It's up at the dollar theatre and Justin and I watched it last night! The theatre was full, all looking forward to this movie starring Keanu Reeves and my idol, Sandra Bullock. I still remember the last time they acted together in Speed and Speed 2. They looked real good together, with great chemistry. In "The Lake House", they are obviously not as young and skinny looking as in "Speed", but they still look fabulous with their experienced acting.

The cinematography is beautiful in this movie. The director used lots of different angles to shoot some of the locations and actions. In some point, there are slow moments, but all these moments built up the story and slowly bring you to the resolution of the complication. You will definitely feel confused because the story doesn't seem linear, but who cares as long as the ending is sweet.... The film is not realistic and doesn't make sense, but a beautiful film doesn't have to make sense. The humanity is irrational afterall because some things just can't be explained. Art can be anything! I think that this film is a piece of art; nonlinear and stylized, creating an impossible love between a man and a woman who are 2 years apart and at the same time, enhancing the story and cinematography with special dramatic effects. I give this movie 8/10. Ignore the critics who don't buy this story!

A funny incident happened in the theatre while towards the end of the film. When we were all waiting for the answer that Sandra Bullock is hoping for, the sound of another car arrives at the scene that she's in. At this point, suddenly a woman in the theatre made a squeak; well, not necessarily a squeak, but I don't know how to explain the kind of sound she made. It's like "Awwwwww..." You know, when you know that the guy is coming to meet the girl and you know they are going to be together, girls always "awwwww.." So touching, so sweet...ya, that kind of sound. She was pretty loud and we all turned and looked over her side and laughed at her! That particular moment in the movie was really sweet, but I think her "awwww" spoiled the atmosphere! Why don't you freaking "awww" inside your heart???! A touching moment became a laughing matter, my gosh!

Anyhow, I recommend all you people out there to catch this movie especially if you like the both of them in "Speed." The story is really fresh and it doesn't seem to belong to a typical Hollywood's melodrama, and I remembered that it's inspired by a Korean movie. We should all know by now that koreans movies are very well made. Don't just think that this movie is only suitable for girls, it fits all guys too! If my husband likes it, I'm sure you (man) will like it. Beware that there are some moments that will spin you around. It kinda hurts my husband's and my head because we were sitting pretty near the screen.
Live Life to the Fullest!

Live like Hell

I'm feeling like hell now...I wanted to prepare for my final exam, but my teacher haven't put up the study guide on the blackboard. She mentioned that she would put it up on Thursday. So now there's no where to start and I can't do much!! This is so irritating! I want to take this exam on Wednesday - the first day of exams - finish it up and relax, but if I still can't get it started only until Monday, then I probably can only take it on Thursday. But I don't want to take it on Thursday because I'm leaving to Vancouver, B.C. on Thursday afternoon!! My teacher still wants to have a review session, but she haven't emailed us the place, day, and time yet. What the heck is she doing now? Freaking slow and I'm panicking. Furthermore, my TA haven't put up some of the scores on blackboard. So apprently, I'm just surfing the internet, downloading Taiwanese variety shows, watching them and laughed, and feeling so sick of the whole thing I'm going through now!! My husband is studying in school and I'm alone at home. Freaking sick!! I feel so terrible, I'm at the peak of my unhappiness in my life! I still have other responsibilities to work on, but I just procrastinate; don't feel like doing anything. Why life can be so miserable sometimes? I'm really tired of it! Can God give me some peace real soon??? It's a great cross between rural and urban areas. Just cross over the hedge, you are in the urban area where technology is advanced and food are never enough!!

I watched this movie last Wednesday with my husband, Keshia, and Rita. I asked them along at work so don't blame me Rae! Thanks to Marcus Lini (he signed this name in my wedding cert!!) for his recommendation to this movie. I enjoyed it alot because I laughed throughout the movie. I love all the animals especially the hyper squirrel! He's so cute and funny! High recommendation to this film! It suits all ages! All of us especially Keesh laughed real hard! I don't mind watching it again!

On the other hand, the latest animation film "Monster House" is way different from this one. (I watched it on Monday along with Pirates of the Carribean 2) It's more suspenseful and contains adult theme. It definitely doesn't suit the children because either they will be scared by the visual images or the language is not appropriate for them. However, I enjoyed it though because I was on sweaty palms throughout the whole show. It kept me engrossed and stick to my chair! I think it's like Harry Potter! Haha! As for Pirates..hmm..I think Jack Sparrow really died in the end so I guess we won't be able to see him in part 3. Anyway, I don't like his character...abit kia see(coward)! I prefer Will Turner starring Orlando Bloom...haha!!! He's the prince baby!!!
Live Life to the Fullest!
