The Lake House

Gosh, what a beautiful film!!!!

It's up at the dollar theatre and Justin and I watched it last night! The theatre was full, all looking forward to this movie starring Keanu Reeves and my idol, Sandra Bullock. I still remember the last time they acted together in Speed and Speed 2. They looked real good together, with great chemistry. In "The Lake House", they are obviously not as young and skinny looking as in "Speed", but they still look fabulous with their experienced acting.

The cinematography is beautiful in this movie. The director used lots of different angles to shoot some of the locations and actions. In some point, there are slow moments, but all these moments built up the story and slowly bring you to the resolution of the complication. You will definitely feel confused because the story doesn't seem linear, but who cares as long as the ending is sweet.... The film is not realistic and doesn't make sense, but a beautiful film doesn't have to make sense. The humanity is irrational afterall because some things just can't be explained. Art can be anything! I think that this film is a piece of art; nonlinear and stylized, creating an impossible love between a man and a woman who are 2 years apart and at the same time, enhancing the story and cinematography with special dramatic effects. I give this movie 8/10. Ignore the critics who don't buy this story!

A funny incident happened in the theatre while towards the end of the film. When we were all waiting for the answer that Sandra Bullock is hoping for, the sound of another car arrives at the scene that she's in. At this point, suddenly a woman in the theatre made a squeak; well, not necessarily a squeak, but I don't know how to explain the kind of sound she made. It's like "Awwwwww..." You know, when you know that the guy is coming to meet the girl and you know they are going to be together, girls always "awwwww.." So touching, so sweet...ya, that kind of sound. She was pretty loud and we all turned and looked over her side and laughed at her! That particular moment in the movie was really sweet, but I think her "awwww" spoiled the atmosphere! Why don't you freaking "awww" inside your heart???! A touching moment became a laughing matter, my gosh!

Anyhow, I recommend all you people out there to catch this movie especially if you like the both of them in "Speed." The story is really fresh and it doesn't seem to belong to a typical Hollywood's melodrama, and I remembered that it's inspired by a Korean movie. We should all know by now that koreans movies are very well made. Don't just think that this movie is only suitable for girls, it fits all guys too! If my husband likes it, I'm sure you (man) will like it. Beware that there are some moments that will spin you around. It kinda hurts my husband's and my head because we were sitting pretty near the screen.
