World of Dance!

Yes! I finally had the chance to watch this at the Dejong concert hall at BYU HFAC on last sat night! I was so excited before going to this performance because I'm always fascinated about watching dance and imagine myself dancing. I pulled Justin along and I'm glad he enjoyed it too! I was very looking forward to watch the Cougareattes because I heard of them being very good and I wanted to know what kind of dance they expertize. Well, I can say they are very talented and their black costumes made them look like a bunch of catwomen wild dancing. A mix of hiphop, jazz, ballet, modern, everything! Awesome! I wish I could be one of them, sob sob... but when we walked our the theatre and saw all the dancers standing outside, Justin said they were not pretty at all even though they can dance, haha! Also, he said all the male dancers look very nerdy! Come on lah, what can he expect? This is BYU mah..he thinks we have dancers with long hair that look like F4?

I was quite fascinated by the ballet dancers initially, but after that, it's quite boring because they looked almost the same. It's always the same kind of dance steps and the 3 same nerdy shorty boys, hahaha! They look so young, not even have college looks.

Then the ballroom dance company impressed me too. Their dance was not what I expected! I thought ballroom dance has alot of salsa and tango, but their dance was slow and lots of flying around. I mean the girls kana flew around. The whole time, justin and I were like "wow" "whoo" "ahh" because we were worried that the girls are going to fall from the flying. Through out their dance, I thought I'm watching a circus...haha, but it's very nice lah..

I wasn't very looking forward to watch the International Folk Dance, but their quick tap dance moves caught me breathtaking! I was so amazed that I loved it! I would never knew how to tap dance, it's just not my type of dance, but I really thought it was cool! I don't understand why all angmohs love tap dancing. Almost every class I attend or everywhere I go, I see my friends tap dancing....

Lastly, I wanna talk about how modern dance influence me so much that I'm so keen to learn it! I never really knew what's modern dance until I watched their performance last winter and I loved it! This time, they performed 2 same dances that I've seen last winter, but I'm never sick of them. I had never taken any dance class here at BYU yet even though I love dancing. It's because I don't know what to take. My body is harden like a stone now, unlike when I was 17! Back then, I could bend here bend there. Now my body is like a grandma! Therefore, I think I'm too old to learn ballet and modern dance. But now I don't care because I want my 17 year old body back and I know this takes lots of time and practice. So I decided to take basic modern dance next winter before I graduate and hopefully I can continue learning when I move to somewhere else. Then when my body is more flexible, I will want to learn street jazz which is the feminine of hiphop. I don't want to stop learning dancing because it's my passion forever! Anyone wants to join me taking modern dance in winter? We'll have lots of fun!!!!
